Erik Nordby VFX Supervisor Erik is a graduate of Simon Fraser University, Canada where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Film Production in 1998. He started his career 13 years ago as a commercial Inferno artist working at Toybox, a Canadian Visual Effects company with studios in Toronto and Vancouver. He quickly moved into compositing feature films working his way through the ranks as Lead Compositor and Compositing Supervisor, eventually joining the Visual Effects division of Technicolor as Visual Effects Supervisor. In 2006 he moved to his current role as Visual Effects Supervisor based at MPC Vancouver where he supervised the teams working on movies including Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, Journey 2: Mysterious Island, The Seventh Son and Fast & Furious 6, as well as bringing Electro to life in The Amazing Spiderman 2 in 2013.

Erik accepted his first role as Production VFX Supervisor in 2014 for the movie Goosebumps, leading the team on a scope of work ranging from CG environments to magical effects and frightening monsters. Erik is currently Production VFX Supervisor on the science fiction movie Passengers, directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Jon Spaihts. As a compliment to his VFX work, Erik has worked as a cinematographer, shooting throughout North America. This experience has enabled a fusion to develop between the two disciplines producing a unique appreciation for form and light. As a supervisor, Erik is well vested in continuing MPC’s progression and development as an industry-leading creator of visual effects.
