There certainly are similarities. Both fictional men came from privileged backgrounds and couldn't always be counted on. Sherman-Palladino grants that Logan was 'charming' and 'smart,' but when push came to shove, he was 'not quite the dependable soul' that Rory needed. Interestingly, it sounds like Logan could have changed over the years. The creator amended her statement a bit, adding, 'Or, at that time, was not the great dependable soul.' Perhaps we'll see a new and improved Logan when he pops up in the revival, to potentially vie for Rory's heart. It might not all be bad news, Team Logan.

On Monday, the 'Harry Potter' author answered a number of questions about her new spinoff film series, which kicked off with on Nov. Fans had questions about everything from why the series expanded from three parts to five to whether or not protagonist Newt Scamander was wearing a Hufflepuff scarf.Warning: There may be spoilers ahead. Rowling gave lots of interesting answers, including about the trajectory of the series. Apparently, 'there's just too much story' for three films because it covers events that took place in the wizarding world between 1926 and 1945.

The streaming service dropped the movie's official trailer Monday, showing a young Obama at the start of his junior year at Columbia University. He finds himself straddling multiple social spheres and struggling to define who he is and what it means to be an American. Fans have the cult series' long-awaited third season to look forward to when it debuts on Showtime in 2017, but in the meantime, the premium network is offering a special holiday surprise. Starting Dec. 26, Showtime will make the entire original series available to subscribers on the network's streaming service, Showtime On Demand, and Showtime Anywhere. The first two seasons of 'Twin Peaks' aired between 1990 and 1991. ABC put the series on hiatus before ultimately canceling it, but not before 'Twin Peaks' managed to build up a loyal fan base that has only grown in the 25 years since. The star-studded cast of Marvel's upcoming ' movie just added another A-list actress to the ensemble, with Oscar nominee boarding the flick. That Bassett will be playing Ramonda, who is the mother of protagonist T'Challa, a.k.a. Black Panther (played by ). In the 'Black Panther' comics, Ramonda has; it's unclear how much of it will adapted for the hero's standalone flick, but if anyone can breathe life into the badass character, it's the equally badass Bassett. Bassett's casting is just the latest coup for the feature, which has already shored up.

We've all heard actors and actresses claim that filming sex scenes is an extremely awkward experience, but according to the stars behind one memorable ' moment, there was a specific, size-related reason that things got weird while depicting the deed. And, who play Rory and Dean, recently about shooting the first time that their characters slept together on the show. The shocking hook-up - which occurred in the season four finale (and is shown in a little more detail in the season five premiere) when a married Dean cheats on his wife and Rory loses her virginity - is certainly one of the most memorable moments in 'Gilmore' history, but as Bledel and Padalecki tell it, they'll always remember filming the scene in question for an entirely different reason: trying to fit together on Rory's ridiculously small bed. 'It was like a miniature twin,' Bledel recalled to EW.
'In the outtakes I fell off that bed a couple of times.' Padalecki also remembered Bledel taking a tumble or two, and admitted that he used the camera angle to his advantage when trying to fit his tall frame onto the mattress. Is on a roll lately: Fresh off his comeback stint hosting ' on November 12, the comedian is set to headline three stand-up specials for Netflix. The streaming service announced the specials on social media on Monday, later adding more details about the events. News: 3 new Dave Chappelle comedy specials, coming soon. — Netflix US (@netflix) One of the specials will be an original, filmed exclusively for Netflix; the other two 'hail directly from Chappelle's personal comedy vault,' and were filmed at Austin City Limits Live in April 2015 and the Hollywood Palladium in March 2016.
Premiere dates are unknown at this point, but all three are expected to drop sometime in 2017, with the latter two released simultaneously. 'Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,' said Lisa Nishimura, vice president of original documentary and comedy for Netflix, in a statement.
'Dave's three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy, and we are honored he will mark his global return on Netflix.' Chappelle's welcome return to comedy has been building steadily recently, with the stand-up performing a whopping 500 shows over the past few years.

Pixar has released the first official teaser trailer for ',' and unlike its lighthearted predecessors, the threequel looks like it will take a slightly darker path for protagonist Lightning McQueen. The clip is less than a minute long, but what it lacks in length, it makes up for by setting a tense tone, suggesting that this isn't the 'Cars' franchise you knew before. Gone are the candy-colored, smiling racecars that populated the first two flicks; they've been replaced by faceless vehicles zipping around a track, faster and faster until we spy McQueen, first out front, and then lagging behind.
'McQueen is fading, fading fast!' Intones a commentator over the track loudspeaker. We hear the winded Lightning try to catch his breath, before a slow-mo shot of the battered, broken car comes tumbling through the frame, in the midst of an epic crash. 'From this moment,' reads some text on screen, 'everything will change.' It's certainly a grim glimpse at the third entry in the massively popular Pixar series.
But is this really what fans should expect when the flick hits theaters next year? Surely the franchise isn't taking a cue from the 'dark and gritty reboot' genre, is it? We'll have to wait until next summer to see.

Santa is bringing some great presents to Netflix in December, including Marvel's '.' Starting December 25, you can watch Cap and Iron Man duke it out with help from Spidey.
You can also stream the original Barack Obama biopic, 'Barry,' starting December 16. Also new in Netflix Originals in December: Season 2 of ',' Israeli political thriller 'Fauda,' and a new true-crime documentary series in the vein of 'Making a Murderer.' ' was supposed to be one of the Fall's biggest movies, but it suffered from some of the same problems that's bedeviled other films this season: how to find enough of a fantastic audience. Predictions for the 'Harry Potter' spinoff's premiere ran anywhere from $80 to $100 million. After all, it's been five years since the last film set in the Potter universe, and anticipation for a return trip to the wizard-ing world was high, what with a screenplay by herself, the franchise's first ever American-set story, and the launch of a new five-installment series of movies. And yet, after all the weekend wand-waving was done, '. Though good enough for first place, that's $10 million below the opening take of ' two weeks ago, and $28 million behind the $103 million averaged by the eight 'Harry Potter' movies during their opening weekends.
An opening in the $90 million range would have indicated strong enthusiasm stateside to warrant the five-film franchise plan. Now, the movie will need all the help at the international box office not only to recoup its reported $180 million budget before P & A, but also to justify five future outings at almost $200 million a pop. Would you spend that much on five films when the first film opened to less than amazing results?
Why didn't 'Fantastic Beasts' cast a similar spell over the box office? Here are seven reasons, starting with the glaringly obvious: 1. No Harry Sorry, Newt Scamander, but you're just not the Boy Who Lived.
You're the zoologist who traveled. You don't even get your name in the title, like Harry did, eight times. The near total absence of familiar characters in this prequel, set 70 years and a continent away from the actions of ',' wasn't necessarily a deal-breaker, but it doesn't seem to have helped, either. No Real Bankable Stars True, the Potter movies had no stars either when 'Sorcerer's Stone' launched the franchise; rather, the franchise was big enough to make stars out of and his Hogwarts pals. Maybe it'll make one out of Oscar-winning, too. But going into the project, Redmayne was anything but a proven box office draw. Even if you loved him as Stephen Hawking in ',' that didn't mean you were eager to see him play a 1920s wizard with a briefcase full of magical animals.
No Source Material to Inspire Fandom This was the first 'Potter' movie not based on a previous novel, just a fake textbook that popped up on Harry's syllabus decades later. That the plot was a mystery to all Potter fans was supposed to be a selling point, but without a novel to whet fan appetites and introduce the characters and setting, 'Beasts' may have proved too confusing - or just plain too 'who cares?' - for even some hardcore Potterphiles. Potter Fans Are Mostly All Grown Up 'Beasts' attracted an audience that was 55 percent above the age of 35, and just 18 percent were under the age of 18 - or less than what one would expect considering the target audience. Remember, kids who were Potter fans when the movies began 15 years ago are now mortgage-paying adults, often with kids of their own. That and the fact that 'Beasts' is a period drama about adults and not a contemporary-set film about school children seems to have contributed to the adult-skewing polls.
It's good to see grown-ups finally returning to the multiplex, but something's wrong when a J.K. Rowling fantasy movie can't enchant a kid audience. Beastly Rivals Let's start with that other current movie sorcerer. Knocked out of the top spot in its third weekend, 'Doctor Strange' is still holding on well, earning an estimated $17.7 million this weekend. Yep, all the grown-ups are back, and they're watching guys with capes perform spells. Or maybe they were seeing ',' ',' or ',' adult comedies and dramas that are also holding up well. The kids, meanwhile, were all seeing ' for the third straight weekend; it came in third, just a hair behind 'Strange.'
That urgent, must-see-it-the-first-weekend feeling just wasn't there among potential 'Beasts' audiences. And that may have been due to.
Low Stakes Harry Potter had to save the world. It's less clear what drives Newt, but even with the Muggle-world catastrophe of World War II looming for the 'Beasts' characters, we already kinda know how that one turned out.
Plus, we got to watch Harry, Ron, and Hermione grow up on screen over the course of 10 years of movies. No such treat is in store for 'Beasts' viewers. So it's harder for even full-on Potterheads to get emotionally invested this time around. Multiplex Drain Has the success of 'Doctor Strange' ended the fall box office slump, or just provided a temporary break from it?
It's starting to look like the latter, with total receipts at the multiplex declining for the second straight weekend. Every new movie underperformed expectations. Teen dramedy ' was expected to net low-to-mid teens with its 95% 'Fresh' RT score. Instead, it came in seventh place with less than $5 million. And no one wanted Miles Teller's boxing biopic ',' which flopped in eighth place. Also bombing? 's buzzed-about Oscar hopeful ',' which expanded wide in its second weekend but wound up in 14th place with just an estimated $930,000, or a measly $791 per screen Viewers seemed to enjoy 'Beasts and 'Seventeen,' giving 'Beasts' an A CinemaScore and the latter an A.

Still, is he going to commute? TWD shooting Season 7 - the filming schedule runs from early May to late November - so it stands to reason that Riggs would be in college for at least a few months of the 2017 shooting season. Even if he decides to defer a year or whatnot, what would that mean for Carl's scenes on the show? He's not a lead player in every scene every week, but the comic book character is pretty darn key, and if Riggs does stay on the show and commutes, does that mean even less screen time for CORAL? Riggs apparently just finished his contract.
Chandler Riggs's father, William, posted a congratulatory note on Facebook that got fans in a tizzy, because it's easy to read it as The End. However, Chandler will turn 18 in June 2017, so maybe this #freedom is just for Papa Riggs. The actor is probably signing a new contract for the future.

Hot take: Carl is in that truck. — Brandon Davis (@BrandonDavisBD) In the comic, Carl and Negan have a weird relationship where Negan respects the 'future serial killer.' Comic book Carl is younger than TV Carl, but the Negan/Carl relationship was already teased last week, so it looks like they are sticking with it.
However, Daryl (who is not in the comic) is already blurring the line of what they might be doing with Carl's Negan story. It's possible a big twist is in Carl's future, since Daryl and other characters could pick up more of comic Carl's story. Probably not - since comic book writer Robert Kirkman loves Carl, and would probably fight for him to outlast even Rick on TV - but you never know.
Also, Episode 5, 'Go Getters' gave Carl and Enid sweet roller-skating and kissing scenes, and TWD does love calm-before-the-storm moments. No one is allowed to be happy for long, so was that foreshadowing? Carl (and Enid) on set filming for the season finale, Episode 16, so they appear to live that long. But will they both return for Season 8?
The 'Walking Dead' stars are now heading home, having, and they probably won't return to set until mid-April 2017 for early May filming - if Season 8 sticks with the usual schedule. Premieres this Friday, November 25 on Netlflix, and it includes a big scene for McCarthy's Sookie. It took a while to coordinate schedules to get the comedy star on board, but once she was there, it was like she had never left. Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino talked to at the revival's premiere, and the site asked what it was like having McCarthy back on the set 'shooting that scene.' Amy: 'Watching her and Lauren Graham, who plays Lorelai Gilmore was always particular fun because the two of them are like a weird, psychotic Ethel and Lucy when they get together off camera, and they finish each other's thoughts and they have a whole physical thing that they do.
It just happened. She just walked back in, everybody sort of clicked back into the way it was. She was just delightful. We had her for one day and of course we threw her, like, a 10-page scene - 'cause, why not?
We figured 'We got her for one day! Let's make it work!' ' Daniel: 'She did say, 'Bring it on' when we warned her.' ' Amy: 'She did say bring it, so we brought it.'

The film, based on the 1964 TV show, was a hit - and a starter pistol for Hollywood to rush their TV adaptations to the big screen. It also put its first-time director and actor on the map.
In honor of the comedy's 25th anniversary, here are a few things you may not know about this creepy, kooky, spooky family. Orion Pictures originally developed the adaptation of the classic 1964 TV series, as they had the rights to the show at the time. But Orion was struggling financially, so Paramount stepped in with funds to complete the film and scored North America distribution, too, as a result. But Orion kept international rights, which now belong to MGM after they purchased Orion. (Everybody got all that?) 2. The film is the feature directorial debut of cinematographer ('Miller's Crossing').
He would go on to direct all three 'Men in Black' films. Sonnenfeld shot most of the film where the TV show used to shoot - Stage 3/8 at Hollywood Center Studios in Los Angeles. 4., who plays matriarch Morticia, was surprised when she got the role. And she gave this really impassioned plea that Fester shouldn't be an imposter.' The director also acknowledged that his cast was right - 'it was the better way to go.' (, who played Fester, was the only actor who didn't care.) 7. Not everyone was a fan of Gomez and Fester's 'Mamushka' dance number. The full version was cut from the film following - what else?
