The green and yellow borders. Bowtie Crib Quilt: Circa 1930; Pennsylvania $495 Unlike many Bowtie quilt patterns, this charming crib quilt has an unusual positive/negative effect. While the primary Bowties are blue, one can also see the white blocks as echoing them.

Four Patch Quilt: Circa 1850; Pennsylvania $1,875 It is remarkable that a simple Four Patch quilt pattern done in just two colors can create such a complex image. The stepped placement of the indigo printed squares creates great diagonal movement. The diamonds within the Four Patch seem to twirl all around the quilt.
The eye can focus on either the large printed blocks or smaller pieced ones for the primary design. It is made of several different indigo prints.
The quilt was made circa 1850; Pennsylvania origin. Measurements are 82' x 85'. Folky Sampler Quilt: Dated 1893; Pennsylvania $4,200 This charming Sampler Quilt is appliqued with many of the elements the maker likely saw on her farm. In addition to a horse; cow; rooster; cat; vegetables; flowers and birds it has the most unusual feature of a hand saw!
There are also some unidentified appliques. It is difficult to know whether they were meant as abstract shapes or, more likely, had meaning to the maker. The initials A.S are appliqued but unfortunately, not an entire name. The quilt is from Kimberton, Pennsylvania. Center medallion Quilt: Circa 1890; Pennsylvania $1,685 This unusual Center Medallion would be described by most as a mother-daughter quilt. The center pieced and appliqued original design was done in the 1860's and the outer frames completed some twenty or thirty years later. The center is a quirky and original design surrounded by more traditional tulips.
The red outer frames are done in a calico print from the late 19th century. The quilt has been professionally laundered. There is a little bit of popping to the red sawtooth border as shown in. Carolina Lily Quilt: Circa 1860; Pennsylvania $1,685 This finely made Carolina Lily quilt is enhanced by the solid and sawtooth frames. The wide white border is an excellent showcase for the quilted feather with stars; leaves and flowers. The off blocks within the quilt alternate star and flower patterns similar to those in the border.
